This was the third time I have experimented with this technique during fireworks, and by far the most sucessful yet.

The
challenge of this approach is to keep the camera completely stable
while manually focusing through the point of focus; a solid tripod and a
light touch sounds simple, but is pretty tricky in reality.

The best image from Natal Day fireworks was one of the last, of part of the finale; the red bursts make me think of jellyfish!
