A Coastal Evening Session

Digital infrared original, 4 image stitch
I first worked in this location in 1992 (31 years ago), but find myself continually returning because it is, truly, one of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen. While it is true that over the years I have tended to avoid certain places I'd previously had significant successes with (in the interest of avoiding repeating myself), I can honestly say that this section of the Atlantic Coast has never failed to inspire, especially with the added influence of weather and light!

I seldom choose to work in a new, unexplored setting with a first-time model, to keep the number of variables to a minimum' as a result, this lets me focus predominantly on the dynamic with the model and everything else that goes into make a set of successful images with someone new. With the focus of the session being on gaining the model's confidence, and creating a series of images that will please her, this kind of session is not one about taking chances creatively.

In the end, the session went really well - we made some really pleasing images, and the model enjoyed the session. It was a little windy on this day, so while the light only got better and better as the evening progressed, it also began to cool off, so the session ended before the light went away!
