I am not sure how many times I have photographed this particular combination, but late in the fall, when the air cools, bees are still out collecting pollen, but they move much slower than in the summer months, which makes them much easier to photograph.

Much of what I love about photographing bees in the flowers is the combination of the classic beauty of the flower, and the frantic drive of the bee to collect pollen before the winter months - that creates something of a contradiction to how lovely these photographs are.

Ultimately, this was just an afternoon of delight in the act of taking photographs; often I forget how much I just like making images - so much of my focus is on the question of art, creative voice, and how to portray that in the end result, so it is nice to reconnect to the simple act of making photographs.
